What to Do?

Nothing as wearing as nothing concrete to focus on. Yes, there's Christmas... but all I feel for that is a world-weary 'neugh.' If I didn't have six young 'uns to satisfy, I'd quite happily head off to an island somewhere, preferably uninhabited.* Possibly it's because I'm almost 'another year closer to death.'**

Some new plans are needed... but what?

* And definitely not with Tom Hanks!
** Pink Floyd have an awful lot to answer for sometimes.

Send the children to an island until Xmas is over?

Christmas Island might be nice this time of year.

In this book I've just been reading it says you should aim to do something different once a month. It can be anything at all. Sounds like a good idea to me!

Barbara, I've got the island and basically no Christmas here...; )

Bet you've thought of what to do by now...I see you as always having plans ; ) and I bet great news is around the corner...: )

Aren't you a cheery lot... :)

I think the problem is called a 'crossroads.' Four paths, and each one looks improbable. I'll just sit on my hands a little bit longer!

Dave: that sounds like the makings of a reality TV show: potential 'Lord of the Flies,' style show.

Colin, I can't believe you said that ;)

Clare, what a good idea... I must do that.

Liz... you may see me yet... plans... we are waiting for some pennies to drop into their slots.

Hi Barbara - came to call via Dominic's blog. I find it best to pretend Christmas is at the end of November, then I get all the hard work done and when everybody else is going round the shops demented I am relaxing (or as, at present) sitting with my feet in a mustard bath as I am full of horrible cold!)

Oh poor you WofG, I hope you feel better soon. A mustard bath... hmm. Good tip, re Christmas... unfortunately the way the finances stacked up this year, not quite doable... some year I'll be organised!

I'm with you on the island idea ... but you kind of have to do it for the kids - and keep doing it even when they are all growed up and have kids of their own! What's a mum to do?

I had a duff day this week too...posted the most miserable poem I could get my hands on and now... it's not so bad. I think that was partly a crossroads thing also. I haven't left it yet either but it's looking less lost, if you know what I mean.
I would like you to put more about you and your writing on here for a change. You're one of those people who focuses on others a lot I think...and without that hardworking agent we could all do with... who is there to push our work forwards? So put a poem up, tell us all about it, put up some ideas or something that's rattling round your brain. I for one would like to know more about BS the writer/the poet. What do you think?

Sorry you've got the solstice blues - I could see Christmas far enough too.

I'll jion you on that island, although Christmas Island is ful of big land crabs, so I don't really fancy it too much!

Okay Rach, you're on!

Kay, you're dead right Xmas is all about the kids, lord knows I have to make the most of it this year, because only three 'believe' and two of those are wavering...

A, I don't like the sound of those crabs... I've enough little nippers of me own ;)
