It's certainly a brave Irish reviewer who takes on a new Anthology of Modern Irish Poetry. Anyone doing that in Scotland about a Scotish anthology would have to hide away for months if he/she had said anything in the least critical or controversial!
But your review seems fine. Hope your health is improving.
Cheers Rob, it was a big book to take on, and I was very worried about it, but I said what I thought.
Since found out that Patrick Crotty, one of the editors mentioned has just brought out a new Penguin Irish Poetry - but that's one that reaches right back through Irish poetry to the guys of the ancient mists as well as the modern ones. Bet that's a real behemoth of a book!

A helpful review. I have several of the anthologies you list on my shelf, but there's always room for one more.
Thanks Mairi, I have a brave few of them myself. This new one is a lovely edition, and a mighty tome in itself.
