Taking Stock and Leaving a Barrel

I am making the annual pilgrimage to Kerry, with seven kids, two cars, lots of clothes, assorted amusements and another adult for a week.

What chance do you think of me getting some writing done there, with all the distractions?

Sun, sand, barbeques and some sea air. Then there's the view from our sitting room window. Ever changing, it's better than TV! There's a lot to be said about being half way up a mountain looking down over Dingle bay.

I get to read in Tralee on Monday 4th August, with many poets, new, old and young... and chat about the future of books...

See you all when I get back, and feel free to party in the comments box, a wee tradition that started over at Minx/Debi/Pundy's house. I think.

Dingle, Dingle...I visited it in 1995/1996, I was there on San Silvester's Night.
If Fungi the dolphin is still alive please pat him for me, he was an explosive marvel on the side of the boat on January 1st in the bay.
And that marvellous small bookshop with tea-room in tow....
Have a happy holiday.
Seven children will keep you busy I imagine.
Best wishes,
Davide

have fun, and don't worry about the writing. Anything you see or do will store up for unexpected moments in the winter. Just lay down some good memories, as Seamus Heaney said

Considering I don't even usually manage to read when away with the kids, I send you tons of respect if you get to write. Dingle is fab. Enjoy!

Enjoy, enjoy! Emma and I with our good friend Doug had a wonderful music playing week near Dingle 10 years back.

Ooh, you're going to Kerry, you're staying near Dingle! I am soooo envious! Such an incredibly beautiful, magical part of the world.
Have a fantabulous time! And don't worry about the writing, just have fun - it will nurture those writing muscles anyway!

Yes have a great break. I hope the kids have lots of adventures that leave you free to put your feet up for a bit.

Have a stout for me.

How was the Tralee reading? Did you survive to get there?

It was good fun and great practice, but I ended up coming home with the beginnings of a migraine that hovered for three days... ah well!
