A Small Dose of Paddywhackery

Don't mind the opening glimpse. This is The Pogues with Ronnie Drew from The Dubliners. Alas Ronnie is no more, but you can enjoy his deep bass tones in this clip which I think comes from the Late, Late Show, RTE from the late 80s. From one recession to another...

I love the man!

It will be interesting to see what art this recession throws up. Given we hardly make anything anymore it seems to be a much more white collar recession this time. BBC R$ just had an unemployed 26 year old weeping about being out of work since Oct 08 with nothing on the horizon. the methods of looking are so isolating -waiting for the inbox on your laptop to ping.

My grandad told me that in 1930s London he would go to the Daily Telegraph offices at 5am to be first to get the situations vacant column.

I remember thinking my whole early married life was blighted by Thatcher. Hard to accept that your own wee life co-incides with a bigger eclipes.

Oh, I love this! Sad still about Ronnie Drew, but a tribute to Cinzano drunk in pints that somehow McGowan is not only still standing, but is currently fronting the gloriously revived Pogues.
